The Indonesian Ministry of Manpower (MOM) is enforcing the requirement for foreign nationals to submit additional documents to apply for long-term work permit (IMTA) extensions. Although this was previously stated in the regulations, the MOM did not strictly enforce these requirements until recently.
The MOM has clarified that the following additional documents must be submitted for IMTA renewal applications:
- Proof of enrolment in Indonesia’s BPJS Kesehatan program (Badan Penyelenggara Jaminan Sosial, which is akin to a healthcare and insurance program);
- Proof of enrolment in Indonesia’s BPJS Ketenagakerjaan (manpower and social security program); and
- Foreign employee Indonesia Tax Card (NPWP).
What This Means for Employers
Employers should work with immigration to identify which of their employees will require work permit renewals, and arrange to obtain these additional documents if they have not already done so. Failure to provide these documents might result in delays with the renewal process.
