Third-country nationals who are considered to have in-demand skills are now eligible for a new expedited two-to-three week Single Permit processing time, instead of the normal processing time of up to 14 weeks. Currently, expedited processing is only available to nationals of a neighbouring country of Hungary, however the list of eligible nationals may be expanded to all third-country nationals.
To be eligible for the expedited process, the application must include a declaration from the Hungarian sponsoring entity stating the following:
The applicant is a national of Serbia or Ukraine; and
The applicant’s occupation is one that qualifies under the current national occupational codes as published by the Minister of National Economy (FEOR codes). This list is updated frequently and currently includes mostly engineering and information technology job titles.
What This Means for Employers and Foreign Nationals
Eligible applicants and their employers should benefit from the expedited Single Permit processing and should contact their immigration professional to discuss eligibility criteria.
