Brazil: Dependents’ work rights, change of status eligibility and other relaxed rules clarified

A seminar with immigration officials has clarified several rules outlined in a decree published in May. Key clarifications are related to dependants automatic work authorisation, the elimination of the proof of residency requirement for business and work visa applicants and the status change rule for temporary residents and tourists. These rules are effective immediately (except those that require a separate Normative Resolution to be implemented) but may be subject to discretionary application by government officials.  The clarifications are discussed below.

Thailand: New immigration form requires disclosure of additional personal information

Effective immediately, foreign nationals applying for visa extensions, 90-day reports or re-entry permits at the One Stop Service Centre and Immigration Bureau must submit a new Record of Foreigner Information Form. The requirement also applies to dependants of foreign workers.

Canada: Improvements to Express Entry program and international mobility programs announced

Several planned changes were announced for the Express Entry and International Mobility programs at the annual Canadian Bar Association Immigration Section Conference in Vancouver, held last week.  Fragomen Canada’s attendance at the Canadian Bar Association conference allowed Fragomen to voice client opinions and concerns about future immigration policies. Key changes and findings are discussed below.
