BTEC

Inspiring the young adults of today

On Tuesday 25th August, Celsium's Shelley Lloyd visited the centre at Juniper Training in Burton to deliver a motivational presentation to a group of students who are currently studying towards a BTEC in Workskills. What made this group unique was that the students are from varied backgrounds, including abusive homes and young offenders institutes.

Not only did Shelley give an overview about her working history, making it relevant to the students, but also spoke about the cultural differences they may face in the world of work, which was extremely beneficial to the students as equality and diversity are at the forefront of any teaching Juniper aims to provide.

Shelley provided the students with interviews tips and pointers on what employers are looking for, and how to stand out from the other candidates. The essence of the presentation was that anything is achievable if you are prepared to put in the effort, and this was directly related to Shelley’s recounting of Celsium's inception.

After the motivational talk, Shelley took the students for individual mini-interview scenarios to give them confidence boosters for forthcoming interviews and gave them hints, tips and constructive feedback for improvement.

"Our students left feeling refreshed, praised and fully enthused to go out into the working world and succeed," commented Craig Goldsmith from Juniper Training.

The event was such a success that Celsium will be attending a further event in October.
