Canada: Faster work permit and visa processing and new short-term work permit program proposed

To attract foreign investment and talent, the Canadian government plans to launch a Global Skills Strategy that will reduce visa and work permit processing times to two weeks. Additionally, the government plans to introduce a short-term work permit exemption for intracompany transferees, international exchange students and experts. Specific information regarding the implementation of the programs is not yet available

Hungary: Intra-company transferee rules implemented

Two new immigration categories have been introduced to streamline the immigration process for intracompany transferees in Hungary.

The Intra-Corporate Transferee Permit is a permit issued in another EU Member State that allows third-country nationals to work and reside in Hungary at a company in the same corporate group as in the other EU Member State for up to 90 days. The Long-Term Mobility Permit is a residence permit that allows Intra-Corporate Transferee Permit holders whose assignments are over 90 days to reside in Hungary.

Kazakhstan: Work permit fee forthcoming

On or after January 1, 2017, companies in the oil and gas, financial, consulting and other sectors will be subject to a work permit fee.

Companies hiring intra-company transferees in any sector will be exempt from paying the work permit fee but will still be subject to special conditions if hiring foreign nationals.
