Denmark: Pay Limit Scheme minimum salary level to be increased

Foreign nationals must earn at least DKK 408,000 per year to qualify for a work and residence permit under the Pay Limit Scheme.

This new rule applies for work and residence permit applications submitted on or after January 1, 2017. Applications submitted prior to January 1, 2017 will be subject to the current DKK 400,000 threshold.

This amount is subject to change on an annual basis.

Foreign nationals must earn at least DKK 400,000 per year to qualify for a residence and work permit under the Pay Limit scheme if the work and residence permit application is submitted on or after June 10, 2016. Applications submitted prior to June 10 will be subject to the current DKK 375,000 threshold.

Denmark: Electronic visa application system shutdown to cause delays

Technical problems have shut down Denmark’s electronic visa application system, according to a statement by the Ministry of Immigration, Integration and Housing, causing the following issues until further notice:

  • Visas are not being issued at Danish consular posts abroad or at the Danish Immigration Service (DIS);
  • Authorities are not able to use the Visa Information System to verify the information of travelers into and out of Denmark; and
  • Forms on the Danish Immigration Service website and the English version of the website are not currently accessible.

EU: Temporary border controls introduced and extended

Due to the introduction and continuation of border controls in the European Union, travellers to Denmark, Belgium and other EU countries will need to present travel documents to enter from another Schengen country.

Global: Immigration processing during the holiday season

During the holiday season, many government offices worldwide will close or have reduced staff and hours of operation, likely resulting in processing delays for work permits, residence permits and visas over the coming weeks and into the new year.The following is a non-exhaustive list of immigration office and government closings during the holiday season.
