India: Appointment unavailability in Gurgaon causes delays

The Foreigners' Registration Office (FRO) in Gurgaon has drastically cut down the number of available immigration appointments per day, resulting in a wait time of at least seven to ten business days.

This is particularly delaying registration applications, which are due within 14 calendar days of arrival and can only be made after arrival.

Foreign nationals should file visa renewal applications at least 45 days prior to the visa/residential permit expiry date to prevent overstaying in India.

What This Means for Foreign Nationals

Travellers to the Gurgaon area should inform their immigration professional of upcoming travel while in India and should keep these travel dates flexible. Employers and applicants should  share all immigration application documents as soon as their immigration professional requests them, as digital copies must be uploaded to the FRO’s portal to secure an appointment.
