India, UK: Applicants for Indian visas at High Commission of London must appear in person

Applicants for several categories of Indian visas in London will have to attend a mandatory biometrics appointment.

This will take effect on or after August 19, 2016, with a few limited exceptions, according to an announcement by the High Commission of India. 

Applicants for the below categories will be subject to a personal appearance:

  • Employment Visa;
  • Journalist Visa;
  • Research Visa;
  • Student Visa;
  • Visit Visa (applicable to Pakistani nationals only);
  • Project Visa; and
  • Missionary Visa.

Applicants under 12 and over 70 years old and those with poor or no fingerprints will be exempt from the personal appearance requirement.
